First Impressions and Their Importance

In today's world the vibe we send out to other people and the first impression we give is extremely important. This is because most people's opinions are formed within the first 30 seconds of meeting us and therefore you can really give yourself a great advantage if you know how to give off a fantastic first impression.

The number one rule to having charisma and being well liked is to relax and not try too hard. A very famous quote actually illustrates this point perfectly and it goes like this "When you try hard, is when you die hard". This doesn't mean that you shouldn't put any effort into giving off the right vibe, it simply means that you will do your best and not speculate on the outcome and result too much. After all you can only do your best and if people don't like it, then it is their loss.

The first thing you want to work on is having a really good handshake. It should be firm and determined, without it seeming like you are trying to squash the other persons hand or trying to intimidate them. You should also strive to always have the appropriate clothing for different situations. This will demonstrate that you have a certain level of social awareness and that you aren't weird or too unique.

Even though being unique is usually a good thing, you don't want to seem to different to begin with, doing so will just alienate people and they are likely to take distance from you. After people get to know you a little better however, you can start showing your different sides and your more unique traits in order to further enhance their perception of you.

Make sure you don't act confident, instead you should be confident and know deep down inside that you are a true leader. If you pretend to be something you are not, people with immediately feel like there is something wrong with you and it will create a distance.

If we sum up all the steps, first impressions are all about looking stylish, smile, have a firm handshake, be confident and communicate like a leader. At the same time it is a definite plus if you are relaxed and don't take yourself too seriously, this is a really good trait to have and will often function as a great ice breaker.
